Sales tax is regressive. It hits the poor the same as it hits the rich. The rich can afford it, but the poor take a hit. That's as simple as I can phrase it.

I have heard people that would rather raise the sales tax than raise the income tax on the rich. Once again, it baffles me.

Not true. with the 30% of income they will save from income tax they will be able to afford the sales tax, not to mention that they will be rebated a certain amount of money that has been determined everyone spends on neccesities of life. so in this case the only things that will be sales taxed is things you DON'T NEED. So if you don't have money, don't buy shit you don't need and you'll be fine. If you are below the poverty line you are exempt from the tax completely. Its fair for both rich and poor. if you're poor watch your fucking wallet and you're good. if you're rich, at least you decide where your tax dollars go.

Bush is an illegitimate, unelected ass fuck. Anybody who would consider voting for this shit stain deserves an immediate 45 slug to the temple. Where are you going with this?

They're already well beyond what's needed to live comfortably. Take a guy like Gates for example. What can he do with all that money that doesn't end up yielding more money(i.e. not an investment)? After the first few billion, you honestly run out of things to buy. So, he can give it up to charity and can afford to pay taxes.

And no, the government might not do the greatest job at road repair and upkeep, but for logistics reasons, they are the only ones that can do it. The issues of uniformity, governing, etc. are all solved because the government takes care of it.

The election in florida was called before the polls in the panhandle were closed which is predominately republican. announcing this turned away a large number of republican voters, thinking gore already won. even after that with a recount, bush still won. gore wanted a second recount, counting only regions that were predominately democrats and it got turned down cuz it was unfair. the whole thing was fucked up yes, but to say he is unelected is unfair and manipulative. if gore won, you could argue the same.

Edit: Or we could change the capital gains tax or the tax on multinational corporations.
